- Summary
- It's autumn in Edinburgh and late autumn in the career of Detective Inspector John Rebus. But a dissident Russian poet has been found dead in what looks like a mugging gone wrong and he takes the case. A delegation of Russian businessmen is in town and the politicians and bankers are determined that the case should be closed quickly. But the further they dig, the more Rebus and his colleague DS Siobhan Clarke realize that they are not dealing with a random attack - especially after a second killing
