Summary
In "Dead Men In A Row" the bodies of three men are found lying side-by-side on the stage road north of Cedarville. Sheriff Jim Ackroyd can find no tracks around the bodies, except those of a light spring wagon, but those tracks soon disappear. It is obvious that the men were murdered elsewhere and then lined up on the stage road. But why? "Patterson" is the story of Glenn Patterson, a range detective for the Cattlemen's Association who has come from Denver at the instigation of two big ranchers in Dakota Territory whose ranches are outside the cow town of Willows. The assignment is simple, shoot and kill Joe Hickman. They believe that Hickman is behind the rustling in the district, but four times he has been arrested, and four times he has been let go
