Summary
In this his third novel, he (the author) follows a young escape artist with a crippled leg who caroms off one risky undertaking after another until he is chased out of town. Alone in Chicago, he's hired by a lewd wrestling promoter as a "side character"--easy pickings for ring behemoths and the abusive louts who fill the arena. More menaced here than in the tight spots he escaped before, he wants to join up with another side character, a raw wonder calling himself Yukon Kid--but will this Yukon Kid be the trusted friend he seeks or his betrayer?
