Summary
Newborns, babies in neonatal intensive care units, women who have just given birth and those waiting to deliver their babies are among the tens of thousands of people stranded in New Orleans during and after Hurricane Katrina. This program examines the conditions in the hospitals that housed the babies and their mothers. It documents the efforts by doctors, nurses and hospital crews in New Orleans to take care of the babies. It shows how helicopters, boats ambulances and physicians using their personal vehicles evacuated the babies. It also focuses on how Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and others across the state and nation picked up where New Orleans hospitals stalled
