Summary
When mystery writer Harriet Vane is accused of the murder of her lover, the evidence seems pretty damning. Not an hour after leaving her flat, Phillip Boyes is found dead in the back of a taxi cab - from arsenic poisoning. An open and shut case, it appears; watching from gallery. Freddy Arbuthnot thinks the jury will be back in no time. His friend Lord Peter Wimsey disagreees- and when, five hours later, no verdict has been returned, it looks as though Lord Peter may be right. But, if Harriet didn't murder Boyes, who did?
