Hypolite Clark was born 22 February 1851 in Lecompte, Louisiana; his parents were David Clark (1809-1869) and Amelia Hébert dit Milan (1817-1867). He married Margaret M. Ware. Their son Hardy Clark married Ida Martha Louella Ware (1888-1969), daughter of Edward D. Ware (1853-1937) and Ophelia Jane Fortune (1857-1936). Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana
